You are looking at a 1953 Corvette replica that is about 99% finished. This is 1 of 12 1953 Corvette replicas built from the original GM molds prior to General Motors law suit that stopped all reproduction from the original factory molds. These were reproduced by an Ex-GM designer who was given the molds back in 1978 when he departed from General Motors. He
subsequently had to return all of the molds to General Motors in 1985 as per the legal settlement. He was able to keep the 12 cars already produced and all the cars were produced in Florida. This is one of those cars. There is no documentation supporting this but previous two owners have verified it.
This Corvette was registered and titled as a 1953 Corvette in Ca., Ct. and Fl. and requires no smog applications in Nv..
The car comes with a factory 383 crate motor and has less than 7,000 miles on it. It has the stock correct exhaust manifolds with a Edlebrock aluminum intake and a Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor. Additionally, it has an HEI distributor. It is very quick, to say the least. It has a Turbo350 transmission along with a 10-bolt rear end. I am unsure of the ratio, but would guess that it is around a 3.25 ratio. It has power vented front disc brakes with drum brakes in the rear. All the trim and moldings are original 1953 Corvette.
The body and paint are in good condition, although there are a few chips
and scratches. One of the gauges is not hooked up, but all in all, the car is 99% completed. It really doesn't need that much, but I don't want the buyer to have any surprises. The bows and soft top are fairly new and has new side panels. The frame has been custom built and has been completely boxed for added strength. It was professionally done and has beautiful penetrating welds. It also has an X-member welded to the center of the frame rails. It utilizes a standard rear leaf rear suspension. The front crossmember/frame section is all 1971 Corvette, as well as the front suspension (upper & lower control arms), spindles, brakes and steering.
Anyone who owns an original 1953-1955 Corvette is afraid to drive them because of the huge irreplaceable value involved in owning one of these cars. Original 1953's are well over the $250,000 mark as only 300 were made. Here's one you can own, enjoy and drive whenever you want. Other replicas sell for over $40,000.
